Forest ranger's check point at the entrance of the Nilgiris' biosphere, controlling wood coming out of the 5700 square kilometer area. The Nilgiris biosphere, recognized by UNESCO since 1986, is the first of it's kind in India. It's the acknowledgement of an exceptional environment, with a unique biotope as well as an environment to protect for the diversity of human cultures.
